Abstrak

Micro and small industries contribute to Indonesia’s manufacturing activities and employment but face production constraints involving capital availability, workforce capabilities, and operational efficiency. This study aims to examine the relationship between capital, labor, and output, assess their productive contributions, and identify conditions influencing resource utilization in Indonesian micro and small industries. A descriptive qualitative literature review was conducted using secondary sources comprising scholarly publications, previous empirical studies, and official statistical documents. Data were analyzed through categorization, comparative interpretation, and thematic synthesis based on production-function theory. The findings indicate that capital supports equipment acquisition, material procurement, and operational continuity, while labor contributes productive effort, technical capabilities, and production coordination. Their contributions to output depend on input complementarity, workforce competencies, technological conditions, and resource allocation. Increasing capital or employment does not necessarily generate proportional output improvements when complementary resources remain constrained or productive assets are inefficiently utilized. The synthesis distinguishes production capacity, output expansion, and productive efficiency as related but analytically different dimensions. The study concludes that coordinated capital–labor utilization and effective production management are central considerations for improving industrial performance. These conclusions represent literature-based interpretations rather than independently estimated production elasticities or causal effects.
