Peer Review Process

All authors submitting manuscripts to Custodia: Journal of Legal, Political, and Humanistic Inquiry are required to complete a Statement of Ethical Compliance, available for download on the journal’s official website. This statement confirms adherence to publication ethics and research integrity. It is not a manuscript template; all submissions must follow the journal’s official author guidelines.

The editorial workflow begins with an initial screening conducted by the editorial team. This stage includes checks for:

  • Formatting compliance

  • Completeness of submission

  • Plagiarism detection

  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope (law, political science, and humanities), including topics such as constitutional and administrative law, human rights, governance, political theory, public policy, ethics, philosophy, and cultural studies.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded for peer review. Custodia employs a double-blind peer review system, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to guarantee fairness, objectivity, and confidentiality.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers based on the following criteria:

  • Originality, novelty, and contribution to the relevant field

  • Rigor and clarity of methodology, theoretical or conceptual framework, or analytical approach

  • Coherence, logical structure, and clarity of writing

  • Relevance to the journal’s aims, focus, and scope

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial board may decide to:

  • Accept the manuscript

  • Request minor revisions

  • Request major revisions

  • Reject the manuscript

Authors asked to revise their manuscripts will be given a specific timeframe to submit the revised version, along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments.

The editorial team of Custodia is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and efficiency throughout the peer review process. Authors may contact the editorial office at any time for updates or clarification regarding the status of their submission.
