Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

Servitia: Journal of Community Service and Engagement recognizes the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in supporting community service activities, social engagement programs, academic documentation, and scholarly publication. Authors are permitted to use AI-assisted tools only as supportive instruments to improve the research, implementation, evaluation, and manuscript preparation processes related to community service activities.

AI tools may be utilized for purposes such as language editing, grammar improvement, translation assistance, reference organization, data visualization, administrative documentation support, coding assistance, data analysis support, educational material development, and manuscript organization. However, all community engagement strategies, program evaluations, interpretations of community conditions, impact assessments, conclusions, and ethical responsibilities remain fully under the responsibility of the authors.

Authors must transparently disclose the use of AI technologies within the methodology section, acknowledgments, or a dedicated AI disclosure statement in the manuscript. The disclosure should clearly identify the AI tool used and explain its specific purpose, scope, and contribution during the preparation of the community service report or research manuscript.

AI systems, generative AI tools, or automated technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they are unable to assume responsibility for community engagement practices, academic integrity, originality, ethical considerations, and accountability for the outcomes of community service activities.

The editorial team of Servitia: Journal of Community Service and Engagement reserves the right to reject manuscripts containing fabricated community data, inaccurate descriptions of service activities, manipulated documentation or images, undisclosed AI-generated content, misrepresentation of community participation, or any practices that violate research integrity and publication ethics.

Authors remain fully responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts represent authentic community service contributions, demonstrate ethical engagement with communities, accurately report program implementation and outcomes, and reflect the intellectual contributions of the authors in the field of community development and social engagement.
