Abstract

Burnout among hospital administrative employees may reduce job satisfaction, particularly among Generation Z, whose work expectations and career preferences differ from those of previous generations. This study aimed to examine the relationship between burnout and job satisfaction among Generation Z administrative employees at Panti Waluyo YAKKUM Hospital, Surakarta. A quantitative study with an associative cross-sectional design was conducted involving 14 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using burnout and job satisfaction questionnaires and analyzed with Kendall’s Tau correlation test. The findings indicated that 78.6% of respondents experienced moderate burnout, while 78.6% reported being satisfied with their jobs.  Correlation analysis using Kendall's Tau revealed a significant negative relationship between burnout and job satisfaction (Kendall's Tau coefficient = −0.704, p = 0.002), indicating that higher levels of burnout were associated with lower levels of job satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of burnout prevention through workload management, organizational support, career development, compensation evaluation, and a supportive work environment to sustain employee job satisfaction and hospital service quality.
